PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for supervising all processing activities through the various shift leadpersons. Train, direct and motivate employees to achieve department goals and standards on yield, quality/food safety, safety, productivity, and cost.
DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for making decisions related to scheduling, staffing, quality / food safety and daily product flow coordination
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internally All management personnel, leadpersons and production employees; also, including quality control employees, maintenance personnel, Human Resources.
Externally Union representatives, USDA inspectors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for his/her respective department and for meeting department goals and standards on quality, yield, productivity, cost, and safety. 45%
Directly responsible for the development and training of employees, working within the guidelines of the Union contract and company policies. 20%
Directly responsible for monitoring standards and indexes needed to control area of responsibility. 20%
Responsible for quick and timely feedback to supervisor on all exceptions in regards to productivity, downtime, quality, yield, cost, and safety. 5% . Directly responsible for giving safety orientations and holding safety/general meetings as required. 5%
Responsible for the testing and developing techniques and processes on equipment as directed by his/her supervisor. 5%
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
REQUIREMENTS: Where applicable, must be able to meet established company production standards. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
High school or technical school graduate or a minimum of three years experience in the food processing background. Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing and must have strong interpersonal skills. Balanced technical/mechanical/human resource knowledge. Able to evaluate line employees fairly and objectively. Ability to interface on a daily basis with all support groups or departments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Up to 3 leadspersons, up to 60 production employees (depending upon production department)
STATISTICAL DATA: Provide any statistical (monetary or numerical) data upon which may have an impact, or which may be meaningful in establishing the dimensions of this position. This may include budgets, purchase authority, volume of production, number of accounts, etc.
